DAY 1
Matenadaran (repository of ancient manuscripts) – Tsitsernakaberd (monument to the victims of Armenian Genocide) – Cascade – Republic Square – Opera House
Arrival. Transfer to the hotel. Lunch. Short time for rest. City tour: Visit Matenadaran where ancient manuscripts are preserved. Visit Tsitsernakaberd and Genocide Museum. After lunch short walking tour in the city center including Cascade, Opera House and Republic Square.
DAY 2
Echmiadzin (Saint Hripsime Church, Saint Gayane Church, Zvartnots Cathedral) – Handmade rugs and carpets factory – Garni – Geghard
Breakfast. Drive to Echmiadzin. The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin is the spiritual and administrative headquarters of the worldwide Armenian Church. Visit St. Hripsime and Zvartnots churches.
Drive to Garni(the only preserved pagan temple in Armenia dating back to the I A.C.). Visit Geghard- an important monastic complex famous for its sculptures and unique elements of decoration.
Return to Yerevan.
DAY 3
Ashtarak – Karmravor Church – Saghmosavank – Monument to Armenian alphabet-
Amberd– Oshakan
Breakfast. Drive to Ashtarak- one of the oldest towns in Armenia. Visit Karmravor church (VII c.) and Saghmosavank monastery (XIII c.) on the edge of Kasagh gorge.
Drive to Amberd- a medieval complex consisting of a castle, a bath and a church. It had a great role for Armenians till XIII century. Though the castle is destroyed and we can see only its ruins today, the Roman style bath and church are well preserved.
Drive to village Oshakan which is famous for here is the place where the first teacher of Armenian language- the person who created Armenian writings- Mesrop Mashtots is buried. Visit the church st. Mesrop Mashtots.
Return to Yerevan.
DAY 4
«Erebuni» museum – History Museum of Armenia – Cognac factory – Parting dinner
Breakfast. City tour in Yerevan. Visit museum «Erebuni», the fortress situated on the hill of Arin Berd. Here is the place where today’s Yerevan started it’s existence in 782 B.C. as Erebuni fortress built by Argishti I (the name «Yerevan» originates from «Erebuni»).
Visit History Museum of Armenia where Armenian culture is represented with the unique architectural, sculptural and ceramic finds, excavated from the cities of Armenia.
Visit Armenian Cognac factory, tour and Cognac tasting. Parting dinner at the restaurant.
Transfer to the airport.
